A traineeship is a course designed for people between the ages of 16 and 24 who want to find a job or apprenticeship but don’t have the right skills or experience. We currently offer traineeships across Bristol, Weston and Somerset.

1You will either be referred to us, or you can apply for a traineeship on www.gov.uk/find-traineeship
2Your first step with the College, is an initial interview with our Recruitment Advisor
3You will then meet the Alternative Education team, who will run an in-depth Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) session, to find the best route for you
4If you’re not ready for the traineeship course, you will get 1:1 support or start a short employability course ahead of a traineeship
5First 5 weeks of the traineeship course involves employability training and digital skills. You’ll study topics such as:
- Motivation, mind-set and target setting
- Projects and presentations
- Awareness of equality and diversity, prevent initiative and safeguarding
- Professional applications: CV, cover letters, interviews
6During your course, you will also study functional skills, or GCSE English and maths – depending on what is needed
7On the sixth week of the course, you will start a work placement and be supported by a workplace assessor
8You will then come into College one day per week for tutorials, English and maths.
