Throughout the year, we run FREE courses, subject to eligibility, to help people improve their English and Maths.

English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) courses

We offer a wide choice of English language courses for students living, working or visiting the UK. If you are looking for employment, wanting to improve your English or preparing for university, we may have a course for you.

These courses will help you get a national qualification, make friends, learn a language to help you in your everyday life, and increase your confidence with English.

We offer courses for students working towards Entry Level 3, Level 1 and Level 2 qualifications from Cambridge or City and Guilds (or equivalent).

Courses are designed to help you improve your English language skills in reading, writing, speaking and listening. Teachers are qualified and experienced to support you throughout your course and help you increase your confidence. A commitment to attend is expected from all our students.

Some ESOL classes contain elements of Citizenship required by the Home Office for naturalisation.

Daytime and evening courses start in September, November and January. You will need to attend an interview before starting a course so we can assess your level to make sure you start on the right course for you.

Although fees are payable for all our ESOL courses, a reduced rate will be charged for some students depending on individual circumstances. You will also be expected to buy course books and pay exam fees, a support fund may be available if you are in need of assistance.
