Introduction to Counselling
This course will provide you with a basic understanding of the communication skills required when supporting others and within the counselling sector.
It is designed as a taster to see if counselling is an area you may wish to continue with or as a personal journey of growth. This course will be delivered over the course of six three-hour lessons. A typical week will comprise learning core communication skills, practising a variety of strategies and learning basic communication and active listening skills. All learners will be encouraged to be reflective and share their own experiences. The course is assessed through practical tasks within lessons and learners will be encouraged to complete weekly reflective journal entries. All course materials will be uploaded weekly on Microsoft Teams and the team will support your development of the use of technology.
Progression to level 2 counselling skills course, which is required for further progression towards becoming a counsellor.
