Working across the Creative and Performing Arts Department, our lecturers deliver outstanding quality teaching sessions for learners from Level 2 – Level 5.
With a primary area of focus in either Further Education, Higher Education, or Adult Learning, you will engage with learners in a classroom setting to develop the knowledge, skills, and behaviours appropriate for their chosen route to industry.
Your experience in industry combined with an enthusiasm for developing the next generation of Creative professionals will make you an important role model for your learners. Lecturers work as part of a team of professionals from all areas of the Creative and Performing Arts Industry. We welcome applications from professionals with a background in any Creative or Performing Arts related field.
Please note: it is not a requirement to have a teaching qualification or teaching experience prior to application, as CPD will include a teacher training qualification for those without QTS.

<p data-pm-slice="0 0 []">Last week, a representative from <strong>Bristol Hippodrome</strong>, Casey Lloyd, visited our <a class="ProsemirrorEditor-link" href="https://www.weston.ac.uk/what-can-i-study/courses-16-18-year-olds/perfo… Arts</a> students to deliver a series of workshops across two days, providing them with invaluable skills, knowledge, and insight into working within such a competitive and dynamic industry. </p><p>On the first day, Casey delivered an Exploitation and Networking workshop, giving students an understanding of the best ways to conduct themselves during auditions, interviews, and professional networking opportunities. Students explored how to present themselves confidently and appropriately, with practical examples of what to do and what to avoid in order to make the strongest possible impression. This was an invaluable opportunity for students to learn directly from an industry professional, gaining first-hand advice and guidance that they can apply in the future as they build connections and establish themselves within the <a class="ProsemirrorEditor-link" href="https://www.weston.ac.uk/what-can-i-study/courses-16-18-year-olds/perfo…; sector. </p><p>Following this, students took part in a Puppetry masterclass, where they worked collaboratively in groups to create puppets using brown parcel paper. The session explored the teamwork, creativity, and techniques required within puppetry to develop the structure and movement of a character. This engaging and hands-on workshop encouraged students to think creatively and demonstrated how simple materials can be transformed to create compelling theatrical illusions. </p><p>On the second day, students participated in Audition workshops, where they were challenged to rehearse and perform a provided monologue, applying the knowledge and skills developed in the classroom to a professional-style audition setting. They received valuable feedback and guidance from Casey, helping them to refine their performance techniques and understand industry expectations. This experience will support students’ future careers by developing their confidence, communication, and employability skills. </p><p>The workshops were followed by a Directing and Facilitating session, providing students with practical experience designed to develop their skills in leading, creating, and supporting performances. The session explored how to direct actors, communicate creative ideas, organise rehearsals, explore performance techniques, and make effective artistic decisions. </p><p>The facilitating element focused on encouraging collaboration, creativity, and confidence, while creating an inclusive environment where all performers could contribute their ideas. Through activities including improvisation, script work, group exercises, and rehearsal practice, students developed their ability to guide performances while supporting the creative development of others. </p><p>These workshops provided significant benefits to students’ personal and professional development, helping them to build confidence, resilience, teamwork, and communication skills that are essential within the performing arts industry. By working alongside an experienced industry professional, students gained a deeper understanding of professional expectations and developed the ability to adapt, collaborate, and respond creatively in a range of performance settings. </p><p>Joe Miller, <a class="ProsemirrorEditor-link" href="https://www.weston.ac.uk/what-can-i-study/courses-16-18-year-olds/perfo… Arts</a> lecturer at Weston College, added, “Collaborations like this are a great way for students to learn from professionals and gain valuable insight regarding the processes and expectations of working in such a competitive industry. <p data-pm-slice="0 0 []">This week, our <a class="ProsemirrorEditor-link" href="https://www.weston.ac.uk/what-can-i-study/courses-16-18-year-olds/perfo… Arts</a> students took to the stage at <strong>The</strong> <strong>Blakehay Theatre</strong> for their production of <strong>Fiddler on the Roof Jr.</strong>. Performed in front of friends, family, and members of the public, the show brought this much-loved musical to life, showcasing the students’ talent, dedication, and hard work throughout months of rehearsals.</p><p>Set in the small village of Anatevka, Fiddler on the Roof Jr. follows the story of Tevye, a Jewish milkman, as he navigates changing traditions, family relationships, and community life. Through memorable songs, engaging storytelling, and vibrant ensemble performances, students captivated audiences while demonstrating their acting, singing, and performance skills.</p><p>Directed by Lisa Frost, Choreographed by Joe Miller, and Produced by Joe Miller and Lisa Frost, the production provided students with invaluable experience both on and off the stage. Throughout the rehearsal process, students developed their performance techniques, learned complex musical numbers and choreography, and worked collaboratively to bring the story and characters to life. Behind the scenes, students also gained experience in areas such as stage management, costume preparation, marketing, and event promotion, helping them develop a broader understanding of theatre production.</p><p>Recreating a traditional musical such as Fiddler on the Roof Jr. provides students with valuable personal and professional development opportunities. Through rehearsing and performing a well-known production, students develop their acting, singing, and characterisation skills while building confidence, resilience, teamwork, and professionalism. Working in a live theatre environment also gives them practical insight into the demands of the performing arts industry, helping to prepare them for future careers by strengthening their communication, adaptability, and performance skills.</p><p>The project encouraged students to explore all aspects of musical theatre, helping them gain a deeper appreciation of performance, production, and collaboration. <p>Last week, our <a class="ProsemirrorEditor-link" href="https://www.weston.ac.uk/what-can-i-study/courses-16-18-year-olds/perfo… Arts</a> students took to the stage at <strong>The Winter Gardens Pavilion</strong> for their original production, <strong>One Night Only</strong>. Performed in front of friends, family, and members of the public, the show brought together a variety of disciplines to celebrate the students’ talent, creativity, and hard work throughout the academic year.</p><p>The production featured an exciting mix of dance, song, acting, and musical theatre, with students recreating scenes from popular musicals alongside original performances. From solo acts and duets to larger ensemble pieces, every student had the opportunity to showcase their individual strengths while supporting one another in collaborative performances.</p><p>Choreographed by Joe Miller, Directed by Lisa Frost and Fiona Philp, and Produced by Joe Miller and Lisa Frost, the production not only highlighted students’ performance abilities but also gave them valuable experience behind the scenes.
