Our Sports Academy recognises the abilities and efforts of our top athletes and aims to support them to achieve their potential. As a student at Weston College, you will have the opportunity to combine your academic studies with high-level sporting provision, which will allow you to fully immerse yourself as a student-athlete.

Weston Sport prides itself on its athlete-centred approach, with a very simple mission statement: “To provide our local athletes with highly competitive and inspirational sporting opportunities; alongside an environment that allows all learners to develop as people and prepare them for the future”.

We offer high quality provision in three main sports, these sports provide our learners with coaching and games programmes in the following sports:

• Netball
• Football (Male and Female)
• Rugby (Male and female)

This year we are also introducing a new academy programme in:

• Cricket (male and Female)

As a Weston Sport athlete, you will have access to elite coaching, sports analysis, High level games programmes, Elite facilities and bespoke strength and conditioning programmes at our bespoke facility the Health and Active Living Skills Centre. We provide access to our sports academies from courses across our 3 main sites and will encourage our athletes to follow courses that will support them with their future career ambitions.

We understand the importance of creating pathways for our athletes to support progression. Therefore, we have developed a number of partnerships that will enable you to progress into semi-professional and professional sport - in a playing or non-playing capacity with:

• Bristol Bears Rugby Club
• Bristol Bears Women
• Somerset County Cricket Club
• Weston AFC Football Club
• North Somerset Netball

Below our some of our successful alumni who have progressed into the above teams or on to university to continue laying sport.

Additionally, athletes will get access to our outstanding sports facilities which include a Sport England specification sports hall, FA Rugby approved artificial pitch and performance gym, all available at the Health and Active Living Skills Centre
