Healthcare Academy for Year 10 & 11 Students
Are you a Year 10 or Year 11 student and considering a career in Health & Social Care? Weston College’s Healthcare Academy gives you practical, hands-on experience while exploring the wide range of career opportunities available within the industry as well as meeting like-minded students!
Our Academy sessions will be taking place at our Health and Active Living Skills Centre on Tuesdays between 16:45pm-17:45pm on the following days:
- 13th October 2026
- 8th December 2026
- 12th January 2027
- 9th February 2027
- 9th March 2027
During the academy, you will take part in interactive workshops covering:
- Physiological measurements (including observations and vital signs)
- Moving and handling techniques
- Basic Life Support (BLS) skills
- Communication and person-centred care
- Teamwork and professional behaviours in healthcare
These Healthcare Academy sessions have been designed to support school-leavers in their first steps towards a career in healthcare. Whether you’re set on studying one of our Health programmes or still unsure and want to give it a try, the academy is open to everyone!
