Nominees Announced for Disability Confident Employer of the Year
With only 2 weeks to go until our annual business awards, we’re excited to be bringing you another employer award article.
Today we’ll be talking through our nominees for the Disability Confident Employer of the Year award.

The Premier Inn
The premier inn has shown their inclusivity in a very short space of time. Their staff have been extremely supportive and flexible with our learners and nothing has been too much trouble. The staff at premier inn have all taken the time to get to know the learners and to make them feel welcome. They have put strategies in place with direction from Weston College staff where needed, in order to make tasks easier and more accessible for our learners.
Weston Museum
Weston Museum have taken numerous learners for work experience who have a range of disabilities and barriers to employment. They ensure roles and responsibilities of work placements match the learner abilities and that all reasonable adjustments are met. The induction and application processes are supported through individualised interviews, and explanations of the role matching the learner’s level of understanding. Learners that have attended Weston museum speak positively about their experiences and demonstrate increased employment skills, and confidence.
Co-op
Co-op has created an inclusive environment, where everyone can contribute their best work and develop to their full potential. They want their teams to reflect the diverse communities they serve, because they believe that this will help to understand their customers better. They want their colleagues to feel included, their ethos is that people who can be themselves at work are more engaged and productive.
