Shortlist Announced for Industry Placement Employer of the Year 2023
With Weston College's Annual Business Awards less than 5 weeks away, we’re excited to be bringing you the third of many employer award nominees articles!
In this article we’ll be talking through our nominees for the Industry Placement Employer of the Year award. Nominated are: Real Group Ltd, Little Waves Nursery and University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust.

Real Group Ltd
Real Group are a new business in the world of construction. Their early careers ethos is developing, and Weston College are at the forefront of that, supporting them to create pathways into quantity surveying & site management from Level 3-6.
Real Group are committed to investing in the construction future workforce and have demonstrated this across their sites by offering industry placements, work experience, site visits and now apprenticeship progression routes. They are growing their own future skills talent pipeline and encouraging young people into construction professions as a career path. They have recognised the importance of Industry Placements, encouraging and engaging the next generation and are huge advocates of work-based learning as a whole.
Little Waves Nursery
Little Waves Nursery have offered placements to our learners in Education and Early Years as well as apprenticeship opportunities and this year they have offered a T Level Industry Placement to one of our Education and Early Year's T Level Year 2 learners.
Not only do they support the college with placements, but they are also providing CPD opportunities to our learners, working alongside the college and local council to ensure the learner gets the full experience from the setting. They are providing the perfect environment for a Weston College learner to go, learn from colleagues, and progress to be 'work ready' at the end of their course.
University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust
University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust have been engaging with Weston college for several years now to support both the development of the T level curriculum, and host Industry placements across the Trust. As well as placements they also have a very well-established apprenticeship and traineeship partnership with the college and are building upon ‘careers not courses’.
As an organisation they have developed their strategies to include a strong collaborative partnership with the college, to ultimately support the growth of new talent pipelines and scale up across the Trust and their wider systems with T levels now being an essential area for them to engage and attract new talent into the industry.
