Combine your passion for animals with scientific knowledge and industry experience. This two-year T Level develops the technical skills, practical experience, and confidence needed for university or a career in the animal management and science sector.
Course Overview
The Animal Management and Science T Level is a two-year technical qualification developed with employers to prepare you for a successful career in the animal sector. Combining classroom learning with extensive industry experience, you'll spend three days a week in college during your first year and one day each week on placement, developing both scientific knowledge and practical skills.
Based at Knightstone Campus, you'll learn in modern facilities before applying your knowledge at Puxton Park, winner of the National Farm Attraction of the Year. Working alongside experienced animal keepers and industry professionals, you'll care for a wide variety of species while developing essential technical and employability skills. As a T Level student, you'll also become part of our Animal Management Career Excellence Hub, giving you access to guest speakers, employer networking, recruitment events, and valuable industry experiences.
Practical sessions may include working with tortoises, parrots, reindeer, owls, marmosets, meerkats, donkeys, goats, ponies, rare breed pigs, alpacas, cattle, emus, and many other species. Throughout the course you'll build communication, teamwork, customer service, and problem-solving skills that employers value.

How will I be assessed?
Assessment includes:
• Three examinations
• Three employer-set or practical projects
You'll achieve an overall grade of Pass, Merit, or Distinction, with UCAS Tariff points to support progression into higher education.
Additional Information
Throughout your course, you'll benefit from:
• A minimum 45-day industry placement at Puxton Park
• An induction visit to a local zoo, with additional industry trips throughout the programme
• Residential opportunities for Level 3 and T Level learners in Year 2

Uniform: When attending Puxton Park, you'll wear the designated polo shirt and hoodie, available from Concept Wear in Weston-super-Mare.
Entry Requirements
• A minimum of five GCSEs at grades 9–4, including English and maths
or
• Successful completion of a T Level Transition Programme
