Take your hairdressing skills to the next level with the Hairdressing Advanced Diploma. You will refine your cutting, colouring, and styling techniques, learning advanced trends and creative approaches to professional salon work.
Course Overview
Based at Knightstone Campus, the Advanced Diploma builds on Level 2 skills with more creative and technical learning. You’ll gain experience in cutting-edge salon environments, working with colouring techniques, advanced styling, and hair extensions. Tutors with industry experience guide you in developing your portfolio, building client confidence, and understanding salon management practices.
Based at Knightstone Campus, this Level 2 Hairdressing Diploma provides a practical introduction to professional hairdressing. You’ll learn in fully equipped salon environments, including styling stations, washing areas, and colouring suites.
Work experience in local salons gives you the chance to apply your skills in real-world settings and, as a Weston College learner, you’ll also join our Career Excellence Hub, giving you access to industry-led projects, employer encounters, and opportunities that help you become career ready.
What will I study?

How will I be assessed?
Assessment includes practical demonstrations, client-based tasks, and written projects. You will be evaluated on both your technical abilities and creative expression. There are also two theory exams.

Kit and uniform links will be provided during enrolment, but a bursary application and/or £100 deposit will be required prior to starting the programme.
Learners will experience all services, including having hair washed, cut, and coloured (block heads will be used during the early stages of the course).
We do not offer a Hair extension unit, but the faculty will run enrichment sessions on Hair extension.
Entry requirements
- A minimum of five GCSEs at grade 9-3 (including English).
- Completion of a Hairdressing Diploma or equivalent experience is required.
- A strong portfolio of work and a commitment to creative practice are highly recommended.
What can I do after this course?
You could progress to specialist hairdressing apprenticeships, work as a stylist or colour technician in high-end salons, or study further qualifications in creative hair, salon management, or session styling.
