The Construction Quantity Surveying Technician Apprenticeship is ideal if you enjoy problem-solving, working with numbers, and want to play a vital role in the construction industry. Combining paid employment with professional training, this apprenticeship will equip you with the technical knowledge and practical experience needed to support the successful planning and delivery of construction projects.
Quantity surveyors are responsible for managing costs, contracts, procurement, and financial performance throughout the lifecycle of a project. During your apprenticeship, you will work alongside experienced professionals while developing the skills to support commercial decision-making, monitor project budgets, and contribute to the successful delivery of construction schemes.
Based at Weston College's South West Skills Campus, you will learn from experienced tutors with extensive industry backgrounds and benefit from specialist teaching facilities designed to support construction and built environment programmes.

What will I study?
Throughout the apprenticeship, you will develop the technical, commercial, and professional skills required to support quantity surveying activities on construction projects.
Topics include:
• Construction budgeting and cost planning • Cost control throughout construction projects • Procurement and contractor management • Measuring and valuing construction work • Recording and reporting project costs • Financial forecasting and reporting • Construction contracts and legal principles • Valuation of project progress • Commercial risk management • Contract administration • Construction technology • Health, safety, and environmental legislation • Professional communication and teamwork
You will apply your learning directly within your workplace, gaining valuable experience supporting live construction projects while working alongside experienced quantity surveyors and commercial teams.
How will I be assessed?
Assessment takes place throughout the apprenticeship and concludes with an independent End-Point Assessment.
The End-Point Assessment will test the knowledge, skills, and behaviours required by the apprenticeship standard and is completed once you, your employer, and Weston College agree you are ready.
Throughout the programme, you will also complete workplace reviews and practical assessments to support your development.

Entry Requirements
Typical entry requirements include:
• Five GCSEs, including English and maths
OR
• A relevant Level 2 Apprenticeship
You must also:
• Be employed in a relevant construction or quantity surveying role • Be committed to completing both workplace and college-based learning
Individual employers may set additional entry requirements depending on the role.
If you are not currently employed, Weston College can provide advice and support to help you find a suitable apprenticeship opportunity.
