Students can select the skill they wish to develop, such as:
- MAG (Metal Active Gas) welding is a process that uses a wire electrode to join pieces of metal together. The wire is fed through a welding gun and is melted into the joint to create a bond. MAG welding is most commonly used with a triple mixture of gases including Argon CO2 & Oxygen. The process is fast and efficient and is commonly used in industrial settings.
- Certificate in Personal & Social Development Skills. The Certificate in Personal & Social Development Skills is an add on qualification to your Level 2 Welding Award.
Assessment Method
24 Welding process specific questions, 10 practical test pieces (6 vertical test pieces, 4 flat pieces). Practical welding tasks will assess the student's ability to safely set up, operate, and weld using the MAG welding process to produce quality welds.
Written assignments will assess the student's understanding of the theory and principles behind welding, such as the types of metals, welding techniques, welding safety, and welding equipment. The assessment methods used will be designed to ensure that the student has the knowledge, skills, and understanding required to successfully complete the course and gain the Level 2 Award in Welding. The assessment will also ensure that the student is competent and confident in the selected welding process and can apply their knowledge in real-world situations.
Entry Requirements
Learners will only be able to complete the Level 2 qualification in whichever unit they complete in the Level 1, e.g cannot do the Level 1 MIG and then expect to do the Level 2 TIG
