General Information Session - Mandatory
You must attend this session to secure your place on the course.
Date: 25 February 2026 Time: 13:00 Location: Online (Microsoft Teams)
At this session you will:
- Meet your tutor
- Learn how the course is structured and what to expect
- Complete the initial enrolment checks
Please make sure you have your driving licence and National Insurance number ready.

Part 1: Transport and Logistics (Online)
Starts: Monday 2 March 2026 Time: 9:00 – 15:30 Delivery: Online (Microsoft Teams) Duration: 3 weeks
What you’ll cover:
- Transport and Logistics (2 weeks)
- Certificate in Skills for Working in a Transport and Logistics Environment
Visit to the Driver Training Centre
- Medical assessment day
- Sit-in experience in an HGV
- Guest speaker: A day in the life of an HGV driver
- Apply for your provisional HGV licence
- DTS Training (online theory learning platform) and Q&A session
Before Practical Training Can Begin
You must have:
- Passed the medical assessment
- Received your provisional licence
- Completed 35 hours of online theory learning (DTS Anytime)
- Passed theory tests 1A, 1B and 2
Part 2: Practical Driver Training
Location: Construction Training Centre Locking Head Drove, Locking Parklands Weston-super-Mare, BS24 7N
Training includes:
- 20 hours of driver training
- 4 hours reversing practice
- 4 hours Module 4 training and test
- Driver CPC
Ongoing Support
You will be assigned a dedicated support member of staff at the start of the course. They will:
- Support you throughout the bootcamp
- Share job opportunities in the HGV sector
- Help you plan your next steps into employment
You’ll have support throughout your journey, from training through to finding work.
