Course Overview
Designed in collaboration with employers, this two-year T Level prepares you for a career in media production, broadcasting, content creation, and digital communications. You'll combine classroom learning with a minimum 45-day industry placement, giving you valuable experience working alongside media professionals while developing the skills employers are looking for.
Based in our industry-standard media facilities, you'll learn from award-winning lecturers with extensive industry experience and work with professional equipment and software used across film, television, radio, digital media, and content production. Through practical projects, live briefs, and collaborative productions, you'll build an impressive portfolio while developing both your technical expertise and creative confidence.
As part of Weston College's Creative Career Excellence Hub, you'll benefit from employer masterclasses, networking opportunities, industry visits, live projects, and guest speakers, helping you build valuable connections and prepare for employment or higher education.
What will I study?
You'll develop a broad understanding of the creative media sector alongside specialist production skills.
Topics include:

You'll also complete a substantial industry placement, allowing you to apply your skills in a professional media environment.
How will I be assessed?
Assessment combines external assessment with practical industry-based projects.
Assessment includes:
• Core Component – Written examination and Employer Set Project (30%) • Occupational Specialism – Content Creation and Production (70%) • Individual and group projects • Presentations • Coursework • Essays • Practical production work
This course requires a good standard of written communication alongside practical creative skills.

Entry Requirements
• Five GCSEs at grades 9–4, including English and maths • If progressing from a relevant Level 2 qualification, you will normally need to achieve a Merit • A strong interest in media, broadcasting, and content creation
Previous experience with filming, editing, Adobe Creative Cloud, or professional camera equipment is beneficial but not essential.
