Explore your creativity, experiment with exciting artistic techniques, and build a portfolio of work. This Level 1/Level 2 course is the perfect starting point for progressing into higher-level creative study and future careers in the arts.
Course Overview
This is a two-year Level 1/Level 2 programme designed to support learners in developing their knowledge, skills, and confidence progressively throughout the course. Learners begin at Level 1, developing the essential foundations required for progression to Level 2. Subject to successful completion of the Level 1 stage and meeting the progression requirements, learners continue onto the Level 2 stage. The full programme is two years in duration, with learners achieving a Level 2 qualification upon successful completion of the programme.
You'll explore a wide range of art and design disciplines, experiment with different materials and techniques, and develop the practical skills needed to communicate your ideas visually. Whether you're interested in fine art, illustration, fashion, photography, crafts, or digital design, this course will help you discover your strengths.
Based at Knightstone Campus, you'll learn in specialist art and design studios equipped with professional resources and supported by industry-experienced lecturers. Throughout the course you'll build your confidence, develop a personal portfolio, and learn how to research, plan, create, and present your work. As part of our Creative Arts Career Excellence Hub, you'll also benefit from employer links, creative projects, workshops, and opportunities that prepare you for progression into Level 2 and beyond.
What will I study?

Assessment is entirely coursework based and may include:
• Sketchbooks

Entry Requirements
• At least five GCSEs at grades 3–1, including at least two at grade 3, or successful completion of a pre-vocational programme
• A passion for art and creativity, supported by a portfolio of work
