Course Overview

The Team Leading/Supervisor Apprenticeship is designed for individuals who are ready to take the next step into a leadership role. Combining practical workplace experience with structured learning, you'll develop the knowledge, behaviours, and management skills needed to lead people, coordinate projects, and contribute to organisational success.

You'll continue working in your current role while studying towards a nationally recognised qualification, supported by experienced tutors and workplace assessors. As part of Weston College's Business Career Excellence Hub, you'll benefit from employer networking, guest speakers, industry visits, and recruitment events, helping you build valuable professional connections and enhance your future career prospects.

What will I study?

You'll develop the knowledge and practical skills needed to lead people and manage day-to-day operations, including:

• Leadership and management principles • Managing people and team performance • Communication and influencing skills • Project management • Operational planning • Decision making and problem solving • Building successful working relationships • Managing change • Personal and professional development • Business operations and organisational performance

The apprenticeship typically lasts up to 18 months, although this may be shorter depending on your previous experience, knowledge, and progress.

How will I be assessed?

Assessment includes:

• Ongoing workplace assessment • Reviews with your workplace assessor • Practical assessment of workplace performance • End-point assessment consisting of:
• Apprentice showcase • Practical observation • Professional discussion

All assessment components must be successfully completed to achieve the apprenticeship.

Entry Requirements

You'll need:

• A job role with responsibility for people and projects • GCSE English and maths at grade C/4 or equivalent • A Level 2 business-related qualification or at least two years' experience in a business environment

This apprenticeship is designed for individuals who have management responsibilities but want to develop the skills and knowledge needed to perform the role effectively.

What can I do after this course?

Successful completion of this apprenticeship could lead to:

• Progression into Team Leader or Supervisor roles across a wide range of industries • Associate membership of the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) • Associate membership of the Institute of Leadership & Management (ILM) • Higher-level apprenticeships, including: • Associate Project Manager Level 4 • Operational/Departmental Manager Level 5
