The programme combines on-the-job training with classroom instruction, allowing you to apply your skills in real-world settings while gaining a recognised qualification. By completing this apprenticeship, you will be well-prepared to pursue a successful career as a Support Technician, Network Technician or Digital Communications Technician.

WHAT DOES THIS COURSE INVOLVE
The apprenticeship gives you the opportunity to combine theory and practical learning, so you acquire a wide range of knowledge and skills that can be applied to the workplace. Key technical skills and competencies that you will learn and develop include communication skills, IT security, remote infrastructure, data recording and communication, problem solving, workflow management, health and safety, performance, processes associated with WEEE (the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive).
You will be assessed through workplace observations, write ups and research that will form a portfolio of evidence. Online knowledge exams, a practical project, and an interview.
Most learners will progress into a technician-level position. You could also progress to related higher education programmes, such as the degrees or degree apprenticeships on offer at University Centre Weston.
Individual employers will set the selection criteria, but this is likely to include five GCSEs, (especially English, mathematics and a science or technology subject); a relevant Level 2 Apprenticeship; other relevant qualifications and experience; or an aptitude test with a focus on IT skills. You will also need to be in relevant employment, but we can help you to find this.
