Whether you aspire to pursue a career in finance, science, engineering, economics, or any field that requires logical thinking, A Level Fast-track Mathematics provides a solid foundation. In the first year of your programme, you will study A Level Fast-track Maths and gain an A level in Mathematics, before progressing to A level Further Mathematics in the second year. You will leave college with an A-level in Mathematics and Further Mathematics. By completing A Level Fast-track Mathematics, you will acquire a valuable set of skills highly sought after in today's competitive world. Whether you continue your studies at university or enter the workforce directly, the problem-solving abilities, logical thinking, and quantitative reasoning developed through this course will serve you well in a wide range of academic and professional endeavours. Our Sixth Form is located at Loxton Campus. This purpose-built facility has been designed to simulate a university environment, preparing you for future higher education studies. We have established partnerships with reputable businesses and organisations, providing you with valuable work experience and networking opportunities. Maths students are invited to attend assorted talks and events during the year including UKMT Maths challenge events, Maths Inspiration talks, and online talks from relevant employers.

In the first year of your course, you'll have the opportunity to follow a pathway that aligns with your career aspirations. Choose from options such as maths and young enterprise, which will provide you with additional skills and experiences to enhance your career prospects. Our dedicated Tutor Learning Mentors are committed to supporting your personal and academic development. They will guide you in developing effective study skills and preparing for exams. Whether you're considering pursuing higher education or seeking employment opportunities, we'll provide support for university applications, interviews, apprenticeships, or internships.

WHAT DOES THIS COURSE INVOLVE

In this course, you will explore various branches of mathematics, including algebra, calculus, statistics, and mechanics. Through rigorous study and practice, you will develop a deep understanding of mathematical principles and their practical applications. You will learn to tackle complex problems, analyse data, and make informed decisions using mathematical models and reasoning. You will also study compulsory content in statistics and mechanics, which will enable you to apply the pure maths in contextualised settings.

ASSESSMENT METHOD

You will sit exams in your first year for A level Mathematics and exams in your second year for Further Mathematics if you choose to pursue this A level. You could apply to study a range of subjects at degree-level including physics, engineering, computing and maths.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Five GCSEs at grade 9-4, including English, and grade 8 or above in maths.
