Course Overview
The TV, Film & Creative Production UAL Extended Diploma is a two-year, ScreenSkills-accredited programme designed to develop the creative, technical, and professional skills needed to succeed in today's media industries. Working with award-winning lecturers and industry-standard equipment, you'll gain hands-on experience across every stage of the production process while building an impressive portfolio of work.
Based in professional production facilities, including a fully equipped TV studio, you'll produce a wide range of media content that reflects current industry practice. As a member of Weston College's Creative Career Excellence Hub, you'll benefit from employer projects, industry visits, guest speakers, and networking opportunities that prepare you for university or a career in film, television, and digital media.
What will I study?
You'll develop creative, technical, and production skills across a wide range of media disciplines, including:
• Filmmaking • Directing • Producing • Scriptwriting • Video editing • Sound design • Camera operation • Storytelling and visual communication • Audience research and media theory
You'll also create a variety of professional media content, including:
• Short films • Television productions • Documentaries • Radio programmes • Podcasts • Music videos • Advertising campaigns • Journalism projects • Social media content • Multi-camera productions • Online content creation
Throughout the course, you'll explore how to create media products that effectively engage different audiences while developing your creativity, teamwork, and production management skills.
How will I be assessed?
Assessment is entirely coursework based and designed to reflect professional industry practice.

Entry Requirements
You'll need:
• Five GCSEs at grades 9–4, including English and maths
OR
• A relevant Level 2 qualification at Merit or above
A genuine passion for film, television, and the creative industries is essential.
Experience using Adobe Creative Cloud, video cameras, or editing software is beneficial but not essential.
