English Functional Skills / GCSE
We offer both Functional Skills English and GCSE English, with courses designed to help you develop the reading, writing, speaking and listening skills needed for work, further study and everyday life. Our experienced tutors will assess your current level and recommend the most suitable course for you, whether that's Functional Skills Entry Level, Level 1, Level 2 or GCSE English.

Throughout your course, you'll build the confidence and practical skills needed to communicate effectively in a range of personal, academic and professional situations.
Topics may include:

- Improving spelling, punctuation and grammar
- Developing vocabulary and sentence structure

Following your application, you'll complete a short assessment with one of our tutors to ensure you're enrolled on the course that's right for you.
Assessment
Assessment methods vary depending on the qualification you study.
Functional Skills learners complete assessments throughout the course, while GCSE learners complete coursework activities during the year alongside final examinations. Your tutor will prepare you fully with regular feedback, practice activities and revision sessions.
Progression
Achieving an English qualification can open the door to a wide range of opportunities. Many employers and further education providers require English qualifications, making them an important step towards career progression, apprenticeships, university or further study.
