Part-time Photography Skills, Award
Overall, the Level 2 Award will give you a deeper understanding of photography as an art form and prepare you for more advanced study or work in the field. You will also develop your own photographic style and explore new techniques and approaches to the medium.
What will I study?
On the Level 2 Award you will cover:
Advanced camera techniques: You will learn more advanced camera techniques, such as using different lenses, working with different lighting conditions, and experimenting with shutter speeds and apertures.
Image editing software: You will learn how to use image editing software, such as Adobe Photoshop or Lightroom, to enhance and manipulate your images.
Developing a personal style: You will explore your own photographic style and how to develop it further, including developing a visual language and exploring different genres and approaches to photography.
Critical analysis and evaluation: You will learn how to evaluate and critique photographic work, both your own and others, using a range of critical approaches and methodologies.
Professional practice: You will learn about the professional aspects of working in photography, such as marketing, self-promotion, and portfolio development.
Specialisations in photography: You may have the opportunity to specialise in a particular area of photography, such as documentary photography, fashion photography, or still-life photography.
Entry Requirements
This is a Level 2 course, and you must have done the Level 1 course previously with us.
- If it was in a different art medium, please refer to faculty.
- If you did the qualification elsewhere, you would need proof of this.
If you have a strong arts background and would like to skip Level 1, please refer to faculty.
Self-Study
You will be producing practical work outcomes and are required to produce a sketchbook that records your performance using visual and written evidence. You will manage the completion of this work in your own time or in session.
Assessments
A combination of practical assignments, projects, and written assignments.

Next Steps
Course completion: Further study on our pre-degree Level 3 course or employment.
