Additional Learner Support

Support and guidance is available to any trainee or apprentice that may be experiencing difficulties during their studies. Our aim is to ensure each individual is equipped with strategies that will aid their performance in the workplace and ensure a successful, timely completion of their chosen programme.

First, we will work with the learner, their Assessor and if agreed, their Employer to understand the support they need to complete their apprenticeship by conducting an Initial Needs Assessment, Workplace Assessment and Screener. Our staff will then put together a plan of support that is unique to the apprentice, to help them overcome any barriers to learning. The individual support plan will include agreed objectives, reviewed termly to check progress and specific arrangements to help the apprentice.

If an apprentice discloses a specific learning need at enrolment, they will be automatically contacted by the support team. Alternatively, a referral can be made at any point by the learner, the assessor, Employer or Parent. The referral form can be found on the Apprenticeship Hub. If you have any queries regarding support, you can email apprenticeshipsupport@weston.ac.uk directly.

Halo workplace logo

Our workplace champions the right of staff to embrace all Afro-hairstyles. We acknowledge that Afro-textured hair is an important part of our Black employees’ racial, ethnic, cultural, and religious identities, and requires specific styling for hair health and maintenance. We celebrate Afro-textured hair worn in all styles including, but not limited to, afros, locs, twists, braids, cornrows, fades, hair straightened through the application of heat or chemicals, weaves, wigs, headscarves, and wraps. In this workplace, we recognise and celebrate our colleagues’ identities. We are a community built on an ethos of equality and respect where hair texture and style have no bearing on an employee's ability to succeed.
