Summer Workshops for 11-16-year-olds

Our summer workshops are back for 2021! Open to those in Year 7 and upwards, these engaging and practical sessions can help to inspire young people and help them figure out what subjects interest them at college level and get them thinking about what they'd like to study and start a career in.

With sessions available for ages 11 - 13 and 14 - 16, there really is something for everyone!

Health and Safety measures that will be in place:

  • Classrooms set so that individuals have 2m gap between each.
  • Groups are kept separate at all times
  • Face masks can be worn if a student wishes whilst on campus
  • One way systems remain in place
  • Participants will be temperature checked upon arrival each day
  • For their own peace of mind we encourage participants to carry out a lateral flow test before they arrive on campus and regularly following their first attendance at the Summer Workshops

Acting for Theatre, Film and Television

Ages 14 - 16: 27th - 28th July, 9:45 - 15:00 (finishes at 12:00 on 28th July)

Knightstone Campus

This engaging and physical workshop will introduce you to several aspects within the field of acting. Within the workshops you will cover aspects of acting for both stage and screen and elements of physical theatre and voice. You will have lots of fun, be creative and meet new people who have a similar interest in Performing Arts.

Art and Design

Ages 11 - 13: 29th July, 10:00 - 15:00

Ages 14 - 16: 30th July, 10:00 - 15:00

Loxton Campus

This lively and engaging workshop will introduce you to some basic principles of Art & Design, working within a professional studio environment you will explore and experiment with a range of different materials and techniques. You will have fun, meet new people, and get to work with the excellent facilities within our creative arts department.

 

Ceramics

Ages 11 - 13: 26th - 27th July, 10:00 - 15:00

Ages 14 - 16: 29th - 30th July, 10:00 - 15:00

Loxton Campus

This session designed to inspire, challenge and motivate young up and coming artists. The programme will include hand making and decorating techniques. You will be taught how to use hand tools to design your own unique pots and tiles. You will also be shown how to apply slips to create some beautiful finished pieces. Join our classes in our friendly specialist ceramic workshop and be creative.

Game and Animation

Ages 11 - 13: 26th - 28th July, 10:00 - 15:00

Ages 14 - 16: 29th - 30th July, 10:00 - 15:00

Loxton Campus

In this summer school workshop, you will be introduced to the world of Game and Animation production! You will try out and learn the basics of industry software and develop core techniques used by today's industry professionals, as well as learning the in's and outs of games and what goes into making them. During this workshop you will be introduced to Autodesk Maya a 3D modelling program, exploring the world of 3D modelling and animation. This summer school will give you a taste of what it could be like to be a student on our Games and Animation Production Course and have a future in the creative industry. You will get to meet the Tutors and learn more about the opportunities that college life can give you.

Graphics

Ages 11 - 13: 28th - 29th July, 10:00 - 15:00

Ages 14 - 16: 26th - 27th July, 10:00 - 15:00

Loxton Campus

Are you interested in Graphic Design, would you like to explore this further. If this sound like something you would like to do then our two day summer workshop is for you. You will not only have the chance to meet new people, you will have fun, within our Creative Arts faculty using our state of the Art facilities to get creative

Musical Theatre

Ages 14 - 16: 27th - 28th July, 9:45 - 15:00

Knightstone Campus

This engaging and fun workshop will introduce you to all the elements that make up a triple threat performer. You will learn elements of technique and repertoire across all aspects including aspects of acting, song and dance for both stage and screen and elements of physical theatre and voice. You will have lots of fun, be creative and meet new people who have a similar interest in Performing Arts.

Music Performance and Production

Ages 14 - 16: 28th - 29th July, 9:45 - 15:00

Loxton Campus

This fun and engaging workshop will introduce you to the key aspects of Music Performance and Production, and the valuable connection they have to each other and the wider industry. You will have the opportunity to access the different practical elements of our courses including group performance, composition, recording studio skills and live sound engineering. You will have lots of fun, get creative and meet new people who have a similar interest in Music Performance and Production. We encourage you to bring your instruments along!

Professional and Commercial Dance

Ages 14 - 16: 26th July - 27th July, 9:45 - 15:00

Knightstone Campus

This fun and physical workshop will introduce you to a number of dance styles including jazz, international and commercial dance. You will learn elements of technique and choreography within these workshops and have the opportunity to experience how diverse a dancer in the industry needs to be. You will have lots of fun, be creative and meet new people who have a similar interest in Performing Arts.

Photography

Ages 11 - 13: 26th July, 10:00 - 15:00

Ages 14 - 16: 27th - 28th July, 10:00 - 15:00

Loxton Campus

This lively and engaging workshop will introduce you to some basic principles of digital photography, working within a professional studio environment you will create a series of photographs as well as learning some printing techniques in the darkroom to print an outcome that you can take home on the day. You will have lots of fun, be creative and meet new people.
