Hear from our graduates

Whilst on my BTEC I expressed the possibility of wanting to be a teacher at FE level, the team were extremely positive and offered me guidance on the qualifications I would need and what pathways they undertook to get into the career. This really inspired me to pursue higher education. 3 months later I joined the team and have now been teaching full-time. I want to inspire other young people like me who arrive at Weston College disconnected to education and unaware of what it can do for them.

Hannah Carstensen

Business Lecturer

After completing my degree, I was fortunate enough to start my journey into the marketing industry with a graduate role at Weston College. It allowed me to develop my knowledge in a practical setting, gaining valuable experience with the support of a fantastic team. You're treated as a valued member of the team straight away, which is something that I found particularly beneficial. Five years later I'm still working in the marketing department at Weston College having developed my skills across the whole marketing mix - something my university peers haven't experienced in other roles.

Josh Herrington

Marketing Coordinator

The graduate trainee programme at Weston College helped me focus on what I wanted and pursue a career in HR. Over the last 10 years the College have supported me and provided opportunities to gain valuable experience as well as becoming fully qualified. For anyone thinking about applying for a graduate role I would say don’t even think about it, just apply! You really won’t regret it and will become part of the Weston College family. The College invest so much into their staff, if you are hard working and have ambition you can progress far.

Laura Holcombe

HR Manager

The teaching internship at Weston College has enabled me to pursue a career within education. On completion of the programme I was supported to gain a successful teaching post at the College and have since gone to move into the management team. The opportunities I have been provided with have been invaluable and the ambition that the College have for staff is inspirational.

Becky King

Curriculum Coordinator for Extension Studies and Into Work (SEND)

Completing an Internship was the best decision I ever made, it allowed me to learn and prove myself in the sector. The opportunities that have come from it have been endless. In the last 10 years I have gone from Internship to Senior Leadership and I would recommend it to anyone considering their next steps - it will be the best decision you ever make.

Gary Durant

Assistant Principal - Adult Studies

I achieved my Degree at University Centre Weston so was confident that my experience of studying here would be replicated as an employee. I am being well supported in my new job and encouraged to contribute new ideas, I’m looking forward to what the future holds.

Halo workplace logo

Our workplace champions the right of staff to embrace all Afro-hairstyles. We acknowledge that Afro-textured hair is an important part of our Black employees’ racial, ethnic, cultural, and religious identities, and requires specific styling for hair health and maintenance. We celebrate Afro-textured hair worn in all styles including, but not limited to, afros, locs, twists, braids, cornrows, fades, hair straightened through the application of heat or chemicals, weaves, wigs, headscarves, and wraps. In this workplace, we recognise and celebrate our colleagues’ identities. We are a community built on an ethos of equality and respect where hair texture and style have no bearing on an employee's ability to succeed.
