Welcome and Orientation Day

Thursday 7th July 2022

We are delighted to be able to invite you to your Welcome and Orientation Day on Thursday 7th July.

The day is an essential part of your enrolment journey and will enable you to feel happy and confident about joining us, as well as making sure you can maximise everything college can offer you. So don’t miss out and make sure you begin to ‘Get Set for College’. There will be some amazing opportunities for you to explore our campuses, complete activities linked to the programme you will be starting. Plus:

  • Receive key information to ‘get set’ for your college experience in September.
  • Meet your tutors and fellow students.
  • Learn what happens in the first few weeks of college and how to prepare.
  • Meet our support teams who will help you settle in and answer your questions.

Extra ‘free’ treats in store

  • Breakfast rolls (vegetarian/vegan options available) for everyone so arrive 20 minutes earlier than your session start time.
  • A FREE WESTON COLLEGE HOODY (for all school leavers who attend Welcome Day and start a college programme in September) In the meantime if you have any questions, simply contact our school liaison team via schoolteam@weston.ac.uk or speak to one of our advisors via LiveChat on the College’s website.

One Message, Different Voices

Take a look at this powerful film made by the staff of Weston College to show how important it is for everyone from different backgrounds to be included. The film shares heartfelt stories and interviews with a diverse group of staff, showing how accepting different identities and backgrounds can make a big difference. Its purpose is to encourage viewers to think about their own biases and work towards making our community more welcoming to all. We invite everyone, regardless of their background, to join us and be a part of our journey toward a more inclusive future.

Halo workplace logo

Our workplace champions the right of staff to embrace all Afro-hairstyles. We acknowledge that Afro-textured hair is an important part of our Black employees’ racial, ethnic, cultural, and religious identities, and requires specific styling for hair health and maintenance. We celebrate Afro-textured hair worn in all styles including, but not limited to, afros, locs, twists, braids, cornrows, fades, hair straightened through the application of heat or chemicals, weaves, wigs, headscarves, and wraps. In this workplace, we recognise and celebrate our colleagues’ identities. We are a community built on an ethos of equality and respect where hair texture and style have no bearing on an employee's ability to succeed.
