Course Overview
The Travel and Tourism Extended Certificate provides an excellent introduction to one of the UK's largest employment sectors. Combining classroom learning with practical activities, industry visits, and work experience, you'll develop a broad understanding of how the travel and tourism industry operates while building the professional skills employers value.
You'll explore a range of tourism sectors, from airlines and visitor attractions to tour operators and hospitality, while developing your customer service, communication, and organisational skills. Throughout the course you'll have opportunities to take part in trips, industry visits, and airport-based work experience, helping you gain valuable insight into a wide variety of careers within the sector.

You'll study a range of units that introduce you to key areas of the travel and tourism industry, including:

How will I be assessed?
Assessment includes:
• Two externally assessed examinations • Coursework across nine units
Approximately 60% of the course is assessed through coursework.

Learners typically attend college four days per week, with timetables adapted where English or maths study is also required.
Entry Requirements
You'll need:
• A minimum of five GCSEs at grades 9–2, including at least two at grade 4, or a relevant Level 1 qualification
Although GCSE English and maths are not required, you'll need to demonstrate a genuine interest in travel, tourism, and customer service.
