Julie
Lead Apprenticeships Manager
Before I relocated to Weston-Super-Mare 10 years ago, I was an Assessor and Employer within Hairdressing. Then my journey with Weston college started when I joined the Apprenticeship Team in our now South West Skills Campus as a Business Development & Employer Engagement Officer whilst working as an Assessor and Internal Quality Assurer (IQA) in Hairdressing. I really enjoyed this job role as it allowed me to visit our apprentices and employers in the workplace and build excellent relationships whilst positively representing Weston College.
Fast forward 5 years and I made the decision to move to the Knightsone campus and join the Service Sectors Faculty as Work Based Co-ordinator for Hairdressing, Beauty & Barbering Apprenticeships. Since then, my career has led me deeper into management and now I am Adult & Work Based Learning Lead for the whole of the faculty.
Since then, my career has led me deeper into management and I am now Adult & Work Based Learning Lead for the whole of the faculty. It is such an exciting job where no two days are the same! One day I could be out meeting some of our wonderful employers planning our curriculum and their business journey with the college, the next I could be in the classroom engaging with the learners and catching up with my team of Assessors providing our information on our Apprenticeship and Traineeship offers.
Being a part of the Service Sectors faculty is really exciting! There is so much creativity and the area is so fast-paced and fun! I love being part of the SER and Weston College, the support I get from the staff has allowed me to grow and be the absolute best version of myself. When I joined the college, I had no idea my career could be so exciting, I cannot wait to see what my future holds at the College!
