BLOG: Working for Wild Welfare

I was already a massive fan of the work that Wild Welfare does years before I started working for them. I’d never come across another charity doing anything like what they were doing, and particularly in the way they were doing it. The problem of poor animal welfare within captive animal facilities such as zoos, aquariums and sanctuaries is widespread and incredibly challenging. Instead of condemnation, Wild Welfare collaborates, working together to drive forward welfare improvements for animals in facilities across the globe.

Laura

Hi, I am Laura and I co-ordinate the curriculum delivery at Puxton Park.

I own I have a cat called Rocket (who acts more like a dog) and a pony called Scott. I love all animals, but I guess I have a particular soft spot for the farm animals at Puxton.

I will be teaching some of you at Puxton Park and look forwards to welcoming you to our beautiful Animal Management Centre. I teach a variety of the modules on our programmes, but specifically the science-based modules and lots of the practical aspects of the course too.

"The practical side of the course was amazing...working hands-on with the animals at the Puxton Park campus helps you to understand and learn things so much quicker."

Animal Management are delighted to introduce the newest addition to the team: baby Emu, Egbert. Egbert’s carers have been spending lots of quality time with the little chick, in the hopes that he would imprint on them.

This is something that Emus do in the wild in order to learn and identify with their caregivers, in Egbert’s case this is the wonderful Animal Management team.

The incredible staff and students have had great success, with Egbert following them around everywhere and becoming a popular and beloved member of the family.
