Bricklaying, Diploma
This course is taught at our fantastic South West Skills Campus, which has state-of-the-art facilities, used by construction companies of all sizes, to discover and develop their future talent.
You will develop your bricklaying skills and knowledge across a wide range of topics, including: carrying out safe working practice; information, quantities and communicating with others; building methods and construction technology; interpreting working drawings to set out masonry structures; building solid walling; isolated and attached piers; and cavity walling forming masonry structures.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed through practical tests, assignments, a portfolio of work, and online multiple choice tests.
What could I do after this course?
Once you’ve completed the course, you can further develop your skills through a Level 3 qualification, you can enter the industry via an apprenticeship or move into employment as a bricklayer, improver or general builder.
Fees
Your course may be FREE if you live in the South West of England (including the West of England Combined Authority) and:
- You are defined as being unemployed.
- You are employed, or self-employed, and earn less than £17,374.50 annual gross salary or less than £18,525.00 (West of England Combined Authority postcodes).
- If you are 19-23 (all postcodes) or 50+ (West of England Combined Authority postcodes only) and do not hold a full Level 2 qualification.

Entry Requirements
Four GCSEs at grade 3-4 or an industry relevant Level 1 qualification. You’ll also be invited to an interview with a member of the course team.
