This month’s featured trailblazer is Georgia Ferdinando, a former learner, apprentice and staff member at Weston College, who is now a Schools Coordinator for the City Football Group, representing Manchester City Football Club in Abu Dhabi. 

We caught up with Georgia, to find out about her journey, and what she is doing now:  

What did you study at Weston College? 

Plate Welder, Apprenticeship

Become a specialist in one of the most in-demand engineering trades. As a plate welder apprentice, you’ll learn how to weld large components used in construction, shipbuilding, manufacturing, and major engineering projects – all while earning a wage and gaining real industry experience.

Port Operative, Apprenticeship

Begin your engineering journey at the heart of a working port. You’ll develop real, hands-on skills in cargo handling, machinery operation, and logistics – all while earning and learning in a fast-paced, safety-critical environment. This apprenticeship is perfect if you’re ready to work hard, problem-solve, and become a key part of the maritime industry.

Engineering Technologies, EAL Diploma

Start building real engineering skills and step confidently into industry with this practical and technical course. You’ll work in machining, fabrication, and CNC environments at Weston College while gaining experience that will prepare you for apprenticeships or higher-level study. 

 Course Overview 

Delivered at the South West Skills Campus, our Engineering Technologies (Level 3 EAL) Diploma is designed for learners who already have some experience in engineering – or have completed a Level 2 course such as PEO.  

‘Focus on Finance’ Initiative Connects Business T Level Students with Industry Professionals

This programme connects learners with leading employers, providing valuable insights into the financial sector and helping them build the practical skills needed to succeed in their future careers.  

Award in Life and Living Skills 19+

This course is developed to support students experiencing complex learning and support needs. The course is delivered from the purpose-built Sensory Learning Base, specifically designed to empower learners to develop independent life skills, communication, self-regulation and work towards individual EHCP outcomes and aspirations. Learners have opportunities to use all areas of the college which will support their progress and achievement.
