Weston College are delighted to announce that Jet2 have signed as its newest Careers Excellence Hub partner for Weston College’s Travel and Tourism Faculty.

Two of Weston College’s Construction Professions students are gaining invaluable real-world experience through their involvement in the project to restore Birnbeck Pier in Weston-super-Mare. Through our strong partnership with North Somerset Council and leading industry contractors, these learners have secured exciting opportunities to contribute to this landmark scheme as part of their 315-hour industry placement.

This week, our Travel and Tourism students took part in a series of live interviews with Swissport, a global leader in aviation services supporting airports and airlines around the world, and one of our Careers Excellence Hub employers that work closely with our students.

This week, our Automotive students took part in a series of mock interviews with Plantforce, a leading heavy machinery hire company supporting a wide range of construction operations. The sessions provided students with a valuable opportunity to experience real interview scenarios, helping them understand the types of questions employers ask and how best to present themselves.

Weston College Group was proud to welcome senior representatives from the Department for Business and Trade (DBT) and the West of England Combined Authority (WECA) to its new Aerospace Skills Academy at Airbus, Filton, for a special visit highlighting the future of technical skills development in the region.

We spoke with Kate from Alun Griffiths about the ways in which Griffiths consistently collaborate with Weston College.

1. Could you introduce yourself and explain your role at Alun Griffiths?

Weston College is proud to spotlight the remarkable achievements of two former A Level students, Sophie Long and Dan Aldridge MP, whose journeys from the classroom to influential careers demonstrate the transformative power of education, resilience, and ambition. 

Last month, Weston College proudly hosted the Association of Hairdressers and Therapists (AHT) South West Regional Competition at the Winter Gardens, welcoming talented students from across the South West and Wales. The event provided an exciting platform for aspiring professionals to showcase their skills, creativity, and technical expertise in a competitive, real-world environment.

Last month, our Sport and Fitness students visited JC Strength Studio to meet strength and conditioning professional and gym owner, Jon Clarke. The visit offered an excellent opportunity for students to explore potential career pathways linked to their course, while also highlighting the value of employer engagement and industry insight.

Our Sports students recently took part in a workshop with Damian from the Somerset Cricket Foundation, where the students learnt how to play and referee table cricket, an inclusive cricket activity which makes cricket accessible for everyone, especially SEND students.
