Early Years Educator

Become an Early Years Educator and gain the qualifications needed to work with children under the age of 5.

If you are looking for a rewarding career working with children in a nursery, school, or pre-school environment, or if you are already working in an early years setting and are looking to increase your knowledge and training, then this is the ideal course for you.

You will develop your knowledge and understanding of a wide variety of topics that apply to early years settings. More than just increasing your knowledge of the theory and principles of early years practice, you will also develop your practical and applied skills by working, volunteering, or taking part in a practical placement in a suitable setting, as an important part of your assessment process.

As well as the main qualification there is also an additional qualification that is funded by the college, this is L2 NCFE CACHE Certificate in Understanding Specific Learning difficulties. Time will be allocated during your college session to work on this additional certificate.

Assessment Method

This course is assessed through coursework and observational assessment in the workplace.

Entry Requirements

A work placement in a setting with children under the age of 5 Nursery, preschool, childminder or reception class of at least 12 hours.

Maths and English at Level 2 or Grade 4 (C ) GCSE is strongly advised. If you don’t have this, then you can undertake alongside the main course.
