Last month, our Travel & Tourism and Business students took a trip to Copenhagen to experience the culture and visit a range of tourist attractions, gaining a deeper understanding of the impact these have on the economy, as well as the operations behind these successful organisations.

Esports Learners Win All Games in Inter-College Competition

Construction Students Deliver Handmade Planters to Weston Hospital

Recently, our Construction learners delivered several high-quality flowerbeds to Weston Hospital for their Sanctuary Garden as part of the students’ Growth & Grace Community Action Project, creating a space that patients and staff can visit filled with plants and flowers that have been grown on site. 

Supported Internship: Into Work

Supporting young people with SEND to build confidence, independence, and move into sustained paid employment.

The Supported Internship Programme is designed for young people aged 16–24 with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND) who have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). The programme helps interns transition from education into meaningful, sustained paid employment.

Pre‑Internship

Preparing Young Adults for Employment, Independence, and Meaningful Futures

The Pre‑Internship Programme supports young adults aged 16–24 with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND) to build the confidence, skills, and experience needed to take their next steps towards employment.

This full‑time programme combines practical, hands‑on learning with real‑life work experiences. Learners take part in enterprise activities, workplace simulations, employer engagement, and tailored employability sessions designed to help them progress into supported internships, volunteering, or paid work.

We provide an inclusive, supportive environment where learners can thrive. Teaching is highly personalised, with a strong emphasis on developing independence, communication, teamwork, and professional behaviours. English and maths skills are embedded throughout everyday vocational learning, and each learner works towards individual goals informed by their support plan or EHCP.

Who is this programme for?

This programme is ideal for young adults who:

  • Are motivated to move towards employment or increased independence
  • Enjoy practical, structured learning
  • Benefit from small group support and clear routines
  • Have vocational interests they want to explore and develop

Learners may need support with communication, confidence, workplace behaviour, organisation, or independent decision‑making. Our experienced staff provide tailored strategies, visual resources, and small‑step learning to help every learner succeed.

What will learners achieve?

By the end of the programme, learners will have:

  • Developed greater confidence and independence in college and work settings
  • Practiced effective communication with peers, staff, and employers
  • Built teamwork, problem‑solving, and time‑management skills
  • Gained an understanding of workplace expectations, attitudes, and behaviours
  • Applied health and safety knowledge in practical activities
  • Completed a CV, job application,and a supported or mock interview
  • Identified personal strengths and realistic next steps towards work

Entry Requirements

This programme is suitable for learners who:

  • Are working from Entry Level to Level 2
  • Are motivated to move towards employment or greater independence
  • Enjoy hands‑on, practical learning in small groups
  • Benefit from structured routines and clear expectations

Learners will have an EHCP and require support with communication,m workplace behaviour , organisation , confidence , or following multi‑step instructions.

Career & Progression Opportunities

After completing the programme , learners can progress to:

  • Supported Internships
  • Paid Employment
  • Volunteering
  • Further training or vocational pathways
