Level 3
History, A Level
Discover the past and understand the forces that have shaped our world with A Level History.
You’ll explore key events, movements, and ideas across national and global contexts, developing the skills to analyse, interpret, and evaluate historical evidence while forming well-supported arguments.
Course Overview
A Level History allows you to investigate the people, events, and decisions that have shaped societies over time. You will study a combination of British history, world history, and thematic topics, examining the causes and consequences of major events, social change, and political developments.
At Loxton Campus, you’ll benefit from modern classrooms, access to digital archives, and a wide range of historical resources. Field trips to museums, archives, and historical sites will give you first-hand experience of research and interpretation.
Our experienced teachers will guide you through debates, source analysis, and essay writing, preparing you for further study or careers that value critical thinking and analytical skills. Our Tutor Learning Mentors will help you develop study strategies, prepare for assessments, and plan your progression.
You will gain valuable work experience in June of your first year and February of your second year. We will support you in finding suitable placements or provide a week of college-based experiences that align with your career goals.
In your first year, you will also follow a pathway that reflects your career aspirations. Options such as debating or challenging the past pathways will equip you with additional skills and experiences to further enhance your prospects.
