Law, A Level
Level 3
Law, A Level
A Level Law gives you a deep understanding of the legal system and develops the skills to think critically, analyse evidence, and communicate effectively.
This course is perfect if you’re interested in a career in law, legal services, or want to study law at university.
Course Overview
You’ll explore key areas of law including criminal law, tort law, human rights, and the legal system. You’ll also examine how laws are created, the role of judges, legal ethics, and the impact of law on society.
You’ll study at Loxton Campus, benefiting from engaging teaching by lecturers with practical legal experience. As a student, you’ll automatically join our Career Excellence Hub and benefit from opportunities including work placements, guest talks, and experiences designed to build skills and employability. Tutor Learning Mentors will guide you to develop study strategies and support university or apprenticeship applications.
As part of your course, you will have the opportunity to take part in the National Bar Mock Trial Competition, where you’ll compete against other colleges and showcase your advocacy skills in a real courtroom setting. You will also gain valuable insights into what it truly means to work in the legal sector through talks from local judges, CPS prosecutors, law firms, universities, and legal apprenticeship providers.
A Level Law not only equips you with a strong foundation of legal knowledge but also develops highly transferable skills, including critical analysis, logical reasoning, research, and effective communication.
Year 1 is completed as an AS Level, giving a strong foundation before progressing to the full A Level in Year 2. AS Levels carry UCAS points and offer flexibility for learners taking four subjects in Year 1.
