The Bricklaying Trade, Level 1, stands as the perfect launching point for those embarking on their construction trade journey. This comprehensive vocational qualification not only provides a robust foundation in bricklaying techniques and principles but also offers a unique opportunity to hone your construction mathematics and develop your construction vocabulary.
The Bricklaying Trade, Level 1, covers a range of topics, including:
- Health and safety in construction
- Basic hand tools and equipment used in bricklaying
- Understanding different types of bricks and their uses
- Mixing mortar and creating different mortar mixes
- Laying bricks in straight lines and arches
- Building brick piers and cavity walls
- Constructing basic brickwork structures
- Reading and interpreting bricklaying drawings
- Pointing and finishing techniques
- Maintaining and repairing brickwork
Assessment Method
Include a combination of practical assessments and written exams. During the course, learners will be expected to demonstrate their bricklaying skills, knowledge of techniques, and understanding of theoretical concepts.
Entry Requirements
While we don't have strict entry requirements, we encourage you to aim for the best possible grades. Achieving a grade 4 in Maths and English will free up more time during your course for valuable work experience or even paid employment, helping you on your path to becoming a skilled bricklayer.
