Accounts/Finance Assistant, Apprenticeship
Launch your career in finance with a nationally recognised Level 2 apprenticeship, designed to build strong foundations in accounting, bookkeeping, and business operations. Ideal for anyone in a junior finance role, this programme gives you practical skills you can apply immediately in the workplace, while working towards the respected AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting.
Course Overview
The Accounts/Finance Assistant Apprenticeship is a 12–14-month programme that blends flexible online learning with regular support from experienced Weston College tutors. It is perfect for team members who help with day-to-day financial tasks, or for individuals beginning their journey into accounting.
Apprentices on this programme will be based at Knightstone Campus, where you will automatically join Weston’s Career Excellence Hub, giving you access to employer networking, career-boosting activities, trips, and guest lectures. Learning combines flexible online study with regular tutor-led sessions on campus or virtually.
Online lessons, lasting around 45 minutes, include animations, interactive case studies, and practical exercises, allowing apprentices to fit study around work commitments with minimal disruption for employers. On-campus sessions involve group work, problem-solving, and discussions that help you apply theory to real workplace scenarios, develop technical skills, and build confidence in professional behaviours.
You will develop core financial knowledge, including double-entry bookkeeping, basic costing, accounting software use, and business communications. All learning is designed to relate directly to real workplace responsibilities.
