Level 3
Fashion, T Level
Our Fashion T Level programme offers learners access to a diverse range of specialist workshops, including printmaking, Sewing, darkroom facilities, woodworking, metalworking, ceramics, plaster, and stone, allowing for experimentation across various materials and techniques.
What will I study?
The Level 3- 2 year Fashion programme is for learners whose intentions are to progress into an apprenticeship or to progress to university.
Learners will have access to dedicated studio spaces equipped with a range of pattern cutting equipment and have access to the latest Adobe Creative Cloud software, such as InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop, providing essential tools for digital design and garment development.
This course is perfect if you have a passion for clothes, trends, marketing, and styling; you will explore fashion design, production, digital media, communication, and retailing. You will learn how to take a design from concept through to a completed garment, and you will understand how that garment is produced, promoted, and sold.
The programme provides learners with the necessary industry relevant skills, knowledge, and understanding to access appropriate entry level roles, training programmes or apprenticeships in the creative sector, or apply for progression to related higher education courses upon completion of the two-year programme.
The programme intends to develop the growth of creative resilience by including a range of specialist and technical workshops within the curriculum. These workshops aim to also encourage learners to think about the different progression pathways available.
L3 will also be required to take part in Work Experience within the Creative Industries. This will also include working with employers in a placement and putting on their own exhibitions and showcase events.
How will you be assessed?
T Level Fashion assessments combine core knowledge and occupational specialisms, with core knowledge assessed through exams and occupational skills through employer-set projects. Students will also complete a mandatory industry placement. The overall grade awarded is a combination of core and occupational elements, and can be a pass, merit, distinction, or distinction.
- Learners will take two exams in the second year covering the core knowledge and understanding of the fashion and textiles industry
- These exams will assess students' knowledge and understanding of the creative and design/craft and design sector, including their ability to analyse and apply their knowledge
- Students will complete a practical project set by an employer, demonstrating their skills and knowledge in a real-world context
- This project may involve researching, developing, and reflecting on the work of other fashion practitioners and the industry in general, to create their own fashion designs and outcomes
- Students will also undertake a mandatory industry placement, which is a crucial part of the course and allows them to apply their learning and develop competence in a work environment
- The core and occupational elements are combined to give an overall grade for the T Level
