This T Level teaches you designing, trends forecasting, marketing, and styling. You’ll explore fashion design, production, digital media, communication, and retailing, learning how to take a design from concept to finished garment and understand how it is produced, promoted, and sold.
Work in dedicated studio spaces equipped with sewing machines, cutting tables, pattern drafting tools, and textile printing facilities. You’ll also benefit from guest lectures, company visits, and participation in fashion events, helping you gain a real understanding of professional practice. Our studios are also equipped with the latest Adobe Creative Cloud software, including InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop, ensuring you have the tools needed to bring your creative visions to life.
In addition to this, learners will also have access to an extensive range of specialist workshops, including printmaking, darkroom facilities, woodworking, and ceramics.
As part of our Creative Career Excellence Hub, you will also have access to a wide range of enrichment and weekly personal development sessions designed to prepare you for a successful future in the creative sector.
Each T Level is equivalent to three A Levels, developed with employers to ensure you gain the skills the industry values.
What will I study?
You’ll master how to:
- Communicate and develop creative ideas.
- Apply pattern-cutting techniques, from sewing darts to draping patterns from scratch
- Use techniques such as stitching, knitting, weaving and printing across multiple materials.
- Use Adobe Suite – InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop.
- Operate domestic and industrial sewing machines and steam irons.
- Build professional and employability skills through mock interviews, studio etiquette and industry-standard practices.
- Understand industry processes and business skills including legislation, regulation, planning and finance.
- Focus on Sustainability – You will explore ethical fashion, circular design and sustainable approaches to prepare them for responsible innovation.
You will leave the programme with a T Level qualification, but also crucially you will have a professional portfolio that showcases your skills.
Course Structure
Throughout the two-year programme, you will learn through a blend of:
- Practical workshops that develop hands-on technical skills in textiles, pattern cutting and garment construction
- Studio-based projects where you design, experiment and respond to creative briefs
- Digital learning, using software such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign
- Industry engagement, including employer-led projects, talks, visits and your 45-day industry placement * Independent study and research, building your creative thinking and professional practice
How will I be assessed?
- Employer Set Project – A practical and written assessment based on a client brief
- Core Written Exam – Tests your knowledge of the wider creative industries and creative processes
- Occupational Specialism Task 1: Design and Make – Assesses your practical skills and creative process
- Occupational Specialism Task 2: Technical Make – Tests your technical sewing and pattern-cutting skills
All assessments support your readiness for the industry and future employment.
Entry requirements
- Five GCSEs at grade 9-4, including Maths, English and preferably a creative-related subject.
- You must display a keen interest in Fashion, and have some examples of creative work to show and discuss to support your interest in the subject area.
Progression
- Creative degrees – Fashion Design, Fashion Communication, Fashion Marketing, Textile Design and more
- Apprenticeships – e.g. Bridalwear or Tailoring
- Self-employment – launching an independent brand or freelance design/production work
