Course Overview

Taught at our South West Skills Campus, this vocational course provides a hands-on introduction to the automotive sector, giving you the essential knowledge and practical skills needed to maintain and repair a wide range of vehicles. The programme combines classroom learning with extensive practical sessions, allowing you to work directly on vehicles using industry-standard tools and diagnostic equipment while covering all aspects of vehicle systems.

You will train in our modern automotive centre, which includes two industry-standard workshops, a Hybrid and Electric Vehicle workshop, and a commercial vehicle workshop. This environment ensures you gain the practical experience needed to succeed in the automotive industry and prepares you for IMI accreditation, ensuring your skills are recognised by employers.

Alongside your practical training, you will benefit from expert teaching staff with extensive industry experience, trips and visits to automotive factories and events, and guest speakers sharing insights from across the sector. These opportunities give you a deeper understanding of real-world applications and industry expectations.

As a student, you will automatically join a Career Excellence Hub. This provides access to additional opportunities such as networking with employers, career-focused activities, further trips, and guest lectures, helping you develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence to progress successfully in the automotive industry.
