We spoke with Justin Whiting, Advanced Technical Trainer – Skills at the National Composites Centre, about NCC’s current apprenticeship programme and how you can get involved!

Construction is a very versatile and dynamic course with many different routes to specialise in.

Taking place during UK Construction Week, our ‘T Level Day’ for the 2025-2026 term will be held on Wednesday 1st October. This event provides an excellent opportunity for employers to connect with our talented T Level Construction learners, share industry insights, and inspire the next generation of construction professionals. 

Last week, Weston College opened its doors to new and returning students as they embarked on the start of the new academic year.  

Over three days, each CEH area welcomed first-year students with a wide variety of activities designed to help them settle in, build friendships, and get familiar with both their learning environment and the tools they’ll be using throughout their studies. 

Level 1 courses are a great way to build a foundation of knowledge around a subject, introducing you at a more flexible and slower pace whilst building your skills and preparing you to progress onto Level 2.   

To celebrate the successful completion of the first year of their two-year T-Level in Design, Surveying and Planning for Construction, a group of Weston College learners recently enjoyed an educational day out in Bristol.

Last term, one of our Level 1 Bricklaying students, Jayden, participated in the Junior Guild of Bricklayers Western Regional competition. This was a fantastic opportunity for Jayden to put his skills into practice and gain valuable learning techniques from peers and industry professionals. 

Weston College recently welcome Oz from Galliford Try, who delivered an engaging and insightful session for our Supported Employment learners - bringing the world of Construction and the critical importance of Health and Safety to life in a memorable way.

Weston College is proud to continue its collaboration with leading healthcare technology firm Epic, following the recent approval for the company’s new European Headquarters to be developed on the green belt near Long Ashton. 

The approved plans, which promise to deliver more than 2,000 high-quality jobs and inject an estimated £140 million into the regional economy each year; represent a significant investment in the future of North Somerset and the wider West of England.
