Introduction to First Aid for Mental Health

There has been a significant increase in mental health challenges among employees in the workplace, driven by factors such as personal circumstance, rising stress levels, workload pressures, and the impact of remote work. As mental health becomes a critical component of overall well-being, it is essential for employers to actively provide support through mental health training and support in the workplace.

This knowledge qualification is designed to support the understanding of principles of first aid for mental health and to support the role of mental health first aider in the workplace.

  • Understand ways to self manage own wellbeing
  • Understand the principles of first aid for mental health
  • Know how to recognise mental ill health in self and others

  • Understand how to promote a mental wellness culture in the workplace
  • Understand the importance of resilience and protection of self for first aiders for mental health

COURSE INFROMATION

Date: Tuesday 21st and Wednesday 22nd October 2025 Time: 9am till 5pm (day 1) and 9am till 1pm (day 2) Location: Construction Training Centre, Locking Head Drove, Weston Super Mare, BS24 7NA Duration: 1 and half days, face to face with multiple choice test on the final day

Cost: Fully funded for employees earning under £25,000 per annum. For those earning over £25,000 employers are required to contribute 50% of cost of training which is £52.92 per person Eligibility: Delegates to be over the age of 19, reside in England and have rights to work the UK. It is advised that delegates have a minimum of level 2 literacy / numeracy or equivalent.
