The learners demonstrated their exceptional skills and commitment by organising and leading creative activities aimed at supporting social and emotional development for the EXTEND toddler group.

Apprenticeships Help Tackle Nurse Shortages in Bristol

The United Kingdom has been experiencing a nursing shortage for several years, which has led to increased pressure on healthcare services.

However, there is some hope in the form of apprenticeships, which are being used to help tackle the nurse shortage issue in the country. In particular, Weston College and the University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW), who are leading the way with 25 new degree apprentices starting earlier this year.

The Level 2 Social Care programme will build on your knowledge, and help you build on your skills for a placement, where you’ll acquire valuable qualities to help you stand out to employers. You will also start making informed choices about future career paths in the social care sector.

Health and Social Care Take a Trip to London

Recently our Level 3 Health and Social Care learners took a trip to London.  

The aim of the trip was to encourage the students to learn and gain an understanding of London’s rich medical history, while also experiencing the amazing sights the city has to offer.  

Adult Care, Diploma

The Adult Care, Diploma Level 3 is a comprehensive qualification designed to provide you with the skills and knowledge necessary to work in a range of health and social care settings.

The course focuses on adult care, providing learners with the skills to work with a variety of adults with complex needs in a range of care settings.

HRH The Princess Royal Visits Weston College’s Health And Active Living Skills Centre

Weston College celebrated the attendance of Her Royal Highness the Princess Royal who visited its state-of-the-art Health and Active Living Skills Centre at Loxton Campus on Thursday, March 30th, 2023.

HRH The Princess Royal was greeted by His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Somerset, Mr. Mohammed Saddiq and joined Weston College’s Principal and Chief Executive, Sir Paul Phillips CBE on a tour of the impressive facilities.

Holly joined the College on the Level 2 course and successfully completed with a Distinction by working hard online to achieve all elements of the programme.

Through her success she gained a place on the Level 3, where she found her purpose within the care sector through the work experience opportunities.

Holly's confidence has grown massively during her time at Weston College and she has shown outstanding resilience in overcoming barriers to ensure she could achieve her goals and aspirations.

Success of Traineeships – Lillie’s Story

Last year we met Lillie, a learner who lacked confidence, but had huge potential.

Lillie’s dream was to work as Healthcare Support Worker, and she started her journey with us, on a traineeship.

Traineeships give learners the opportunity to gain valuable work experience in a sector they are interested in, while also improving employability skills, English and Maths.

It wasn’t an easy start, as at first Lillie felt that she wasn’t ready to progress, but that simply wasn’t the case.
