Business leaders, public sector representatives and community organisations gathered this morning for the launch of the Weston Business Breakfast, hosted by Somerset Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Weston College.

Held at the Winter Gardens, the event brought together businesses from across the region for a morning focused on networking, collaboration and shared opportunities for growth within the local economy.

Our Sport and Fitness students recently received a hands-on workshop with self-employed sports physiotherapist, Sam, who shared her expertise with the students as part of their current unit on their course, gaining a deeper understanding of how to deal with injuries.

This week, one of our Electrical Apprentices, Marcus Pan, competed in the SPARKS Learner of the Year 2026 competition, working on an electrical build against other learners from across the UK. After winning the South West Regional competition in January, Marcus progressed to the final against 6 other regional winners and placed 2nd overall. A fantastic achievement and reflection of his hard work and dedication to his apprenticeship.

Recent figures suggest that only around 3 in 10 autistic adults (approximately 30–34%) are currently in paid employment. With this in mind, we were incredibly proud to host an inspiring employer engagement event celebrating the achievements, ambition, and talents of our Supported Interns. The event highlighted the importance of creating inclusive opportunities in the workplace while showcasing the incredible potential of young people taking part in Supported Internships.

This week, Great Western Railway delivered an engaging guest lecture for our Travel and Tourism learners, offering valuable insight into the wide range of career opportunities available within their organisation and how students can begin their journey into the industry.

Weston College are delighted to announce that Jet2 have signed as its newest Careers Excellence Hub partner for Weston College’s Travel and Tourism Faculty.

Two of Weston College’s Construction Professions students are gaining invaluable real-world experience through their involvement in the project to restore Birnbeck Pier in Weston-super-Mare. Through our strong partnership with North Somerset Council and leading industry contractors, these learners have secured exciting opportunities to contribute to this landmark scheme as part of their 315-hour industry placement.

This week, our Travel and Tourism students took part in a series of live interviews with Swissport, a global leader in aviation services supporting airports and airlines around the world, and one of our Careers Excellence Hub employers that work closely with our students.

This week, our Automotive students took part in a series of mock interviews with Plantforce, a leading heavy machinery hire company supporting a wide range of construction operations. The sessions provided students with a valuable opportunity to experience real interview scenarios, helping them understand the types of questions employers ask and how best to present themselves.
