Course Overview
This apprenticeship is ideal if you're interested in a career in marketing and want to develop professional skills while working in industry. You'll combine workplace experience with college-based learning, giving you the opportunity to build a broad understanding of both traditional and digital marketing.
As an apprentice, you'll support real marketing projects, gaining experience in areas such as market research, campaign planning, social media management, content creation, and customer communications. You'll also develop valuable analytical, creative, and strategic thinking skills that employers are looking for.
As a Weston College apprentice, you'll automatically become part of our Business Career Excellence Hub. Through employer-led masterclasses, guest speakers, company visits, recruitment events, and work experience opportunities, you'll gain unrivalled access to industry professionals and potential employers. Previous learners have worked on high-profile local campaigns, including SEE MONSTER and Visit Somerset.
You'll study in purpose-built classrooms with access to our business suite and boardroom facilities, supported by experienced tutors and assessors who have worked in industry and successfully run their own businesses.
What will I study?
You'll study a range of marketing topics, including:
• Digital marketing
• Event marketing
• Brand activation
• Social media and influencer marketing
• Market research for new businesses
• Marketing principles
• Customer communications
You'll also develop practical workplace skills, including:
• Using research and survey software to gather audience insights
• Publishing website, social media, image, and video content
• Email marketing campaigns
• Organising digital marketing assets in line with legal requirements, including GDPR and copyright legislation
• Producing briefs for external marketing suppliers
• Writing and proofreading marketing copy
• Analysing marketing performance data
• Creating spreadsheets and reports using business software
• Delivering professional presentations
• Using CRM systems, Google Analytics, and marketing software to produce reports
The qualification is mapped to the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) Level 3 Foundation Certificate in Professional Digital Marketing, helping to enhance your future employment opportunities.
How will I be assessed?
Assessment takes place throughout the apprenticeship and includes:
• 13 assessments completed over two years
• One external examination
Entry Requirements
• Five GCSEs at grades 9–4, including English and maths
• Relevant employment within the marketing sector (we can help you find a suitable employer)

Successful completion of this apprenticeship could lead to:
• Employment within the marketing sector
