Course Overview
The Level 2 Bricklaying Technical Diploma is a two-year, full-time course designed for learners looking to build on existing skills and progress in the construction industry. You’ll develop advanced bricklaying techniques, including complex patterns, arch construction, specialised mortar mixes, and intricate structures, while also strengthening your construction maths, technical vocabulary, and understanding of building methods. Health and safety, teamwork, and professional communication are central to your learning, alongside the ability to read and interpret detailed construction drawings and plans.
Training takes place at Weston College’s South West Skills Campus, where purpose-built workshops, an industry-standard materials testing lab, outdoor construction arenas, and modern tools and software create a real-world learning environment. You’ll also benefit from work experience opportunities to gain practical insight into the construction industry.

This course equips you not just with bricklaying skills, but with the broader knowledge and confidence needed for a successful career in construction.

Entry requirements
- Bricklaying Level 1
- GCSEs at grades 9–3, including English and maths
- A keen interest in construction and practical work
Throughout the course, you’ll have the opportunity to improve your maths and English skills. If you haven’t already achieved a Grade 4 GCSE or Level 2 Functional Skills, additional support will be provided to meet apprenticeship requirements.
