This one-year Level 1 Outdoor Adventure course is perfect for anyone who enjoys being active, working outdoors, and learning through practical experiences. Whether you're leaving school, exploring a new direction, or looking to build confidence and independence, this course offers an exciting introduction to outdoor education.
Throughout the year, you'll develop practical outdoor skills while learning how to work effectively as part of a team, solve problems, and lead others in challenging environments. The course combines classroom learning with regular outdoor activities, helping you build confidence, resilience, and employability skills.
What will I study?
During the programme you'll gain practical experience in:
• Navigation and map reading
• Bushcraft and wilderness survival
• Expedition planning
• Teamwork and leadership
• Rock climbing, hiking, and water-based activities
• Outdoor first aid and safety
Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements for this course.
All you need is:
• Enthusiasm for learning
• A willingness to take part in practical activities
• A passion for the outdoors
Learners who have not yet achieved grade 4 in English and/or maths will continue to study these subjects alongside their main programme.

Trips and Activities
Our Outdoor Adventure programmes include an extensive range of exciting trips and experiences, which may include:
• Coasteering
• Canoeing
• Mountain and hill expeditions
• Visits to emergency services and military bases
Timetable
You'll typically study for approximately 15.5 contact hours each week over around three and a half days, allowing flexibility for part-time work if desired.
