QUALIFICATIONS EXPLAINED
A Levels develop the knowledge, skills and study habits to excel at university, as well as the attributes recognised by employers.
Your academic studies will be complemented with enrichment opportunities such as trips, mentoring and work experience, providing the perfect springboard for your future career.
A Levels are assessed through exams at the end of two years of study. Most learners study three subjects - some choose four.
With an apprenticeship you’ll go straight into the workplace and be shown clear routes to progress straight into employment within a specific occupation. You can achieve nationally recognised qualifications, earn a wage, and gain skills that will see you get ahead. On average you will spend 20% of your learning time in the college and 80% within the workplace
Professional and technical qualifications are designed to provide you with the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to gain employment within specific industries or occupations. They provide a balance between theory and practical skills development. They are suited to those who want to get hands-on experience within a particular vocational area. These programmes include work placements. Assessment is more varied and will include exams, coursework and practical work.
T Levels give you the chance to learn what a real career is like while you continue your studies. T Levels have been designed with leading businesses and employers to give you the knowledge and skills you need, including a minimum of 45 days on an industry placement – this means you will spend 80% of your learning time in College and 20% within the workplace.

This North Somerset contracted route will have significant changes. The 51 will be renumbered 125, the 51s will remain as the 51s. The 125 will no longer serve Locking Parklands and instead serve Locking Village on the 2-hourly timetable. In the town centre, the service will no longer run via the Railway Station forecourt.

Service X1 will run more frequently - now every 15 minutes all through the day on weekday daytimes.
At Weston-super-Mare, it will be extended beyond the town centre (Marine Parade) to replace the existing service 3 route through Bournville to Searle Crescent, picking up the existing service 3 route from Clevedon Road. It will terminate at Asda having come via Marchfields Way and Winterstoke Road to avoid peak time congestion. The 15 minute frequency means that Bournville will benefit from more frequent buses than before, as well as the service running much later into the evening than the 3.

Service X5 Weston-super-Mare – Clevedon – Portishead

Learners from Weston College picked up their GCSE Maths and English results this morning.
Each year Weston College welcomes a combination of new learners to the College and returning learners, to obtain the grade C/4 required to progress further in their education.
Learners demonstrated remarkable dedication and perseverance, proving that it is never too late to pursue academic excellence and unlock new opportunities.
These results are a huge cause for celebration, and go to show how Weston College supports its learners to achieve.
One of the tremendous success stories from the day, is Baylee, who moved to Weston to go to Weston College and gained her English GCSE:
“I am very happy with my results – and delighted to pass! I wouldn’t have been able to go to college, if it wasn’t for Weston College.
“Now that I have my GCSE in English, I am going on to study counselling, because I really want to help people, like people have helped me.”
Good luck to Baylee on her next step!
Reuben achieved a grade 9 in his English GCSE: “I am very shocked at my GCSE English result – I really didn’t think I would get this result, so I am extremely happy.
“This qualification will help me to achieve my long-term dream of being a music teacher or a music therapist.
“The staff at Weston College were really helpful. I have dyspraxia, so they supported me with getting a laptop, and using coloured paper which has made a big difference to me. I am so glad and thankful for the support I received.”
Good luck Reuben!
In a resounding testament to educational excellence, Weston College's T Level learners have achieved an extraordinary 100% pass rate this year – outshining the national pass rate of 90.5%.
T Levels, introduced as a new technical qualification pathway, emphasise a blend of classroom learning and practical experience, making Weston College's achievement even more noteworthy.
The achievement of a flawless pass rate is a reflection of the dedication put forth by students and the unwavering support provided by staff at Weston College.
Sandra Bull, Assistant Principal of Curriculum and Cross College T Level Lead, at Weston College, said: “We are so proud of our T Level learners, and the amazing results that they have achieved – bucking the national trend!
“The results demonstrate the hard work and commitment of our students, staff and also the employer partners who play such an important role in the T Level journey for our learners.
“Our learners are now progressing onto their next stage, which looks different for each learner, with some progressing to university, some going on to complete degree apprenticeships and others going straight into their chosen industry.
“These results, and the feedback we are receiving, demonstrate the impact that T Levels can have and is having on creating the next generation of skilled employees for the evolving demands of the modern workforce.”
One of the driving forces behind this remarkable success is the college's emphasis on putting the learner first. Weston College is renowned for its student-centred approach, ensuring that each individual's unique strengths are harnessed and that support is on hand to support learners in any way that is needed. The dedicated teaching staff, equipped with a wealth of expertise, have played a pivotal role in shaping students into confident, knowledgeable professionals ready to make a meaningful impact.
