Website Design and Software Development, Award
This course is designed for people aged over 19 years and is broken down into 2 elements, an award in programming and an award in website design. This is ideal for learners who are wanting to develop their skills as a website designer and as a programmer. This includes the following:
Award in Programming
Designed for learners to learn about the principles of computer programming to understand how programming works. They will develop text-based programming skills to design and develop their own computer program. The following learning outcomes will be covered:
- Know the basic principles of programming
- Be able to design a simple computer program in response to a client brief
- Be able to develop the program using a graphic-based programming language
- Be able to test, document and review the program
Award in Programming
Designed for learners to learn how to create a simple website using tools and techniques to add functionality, navigation buttons and hyperlinks. Learners will also develop skills in planning and designing a website and once complete they will review the finished website and make suggestions for improvement. The following learning outcomes will be covered:
- Know the uses and features of websites
- Be able to design a website for an audience and purpose
- Be able to create a website
- Be able to test and review a website
Assessment method
You will be assessed through practical assignments and portfolio development.
Progression opportunities
Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to progress to the Award in Website Design and Development Level 2.
