Weston-super-Mare's prestigious Winter Gardens venue played host to the highly anticipated annual Weston College Business Awards last night. 

The event brought together 250 distinguished guests for an inspiring celebration of learners and local employers who have worked closely with the college to offer work-placed opportunities to people taking their first steps in their career. 

Last week we hosted a successful Fast Track Engineering Interview Event at our South West Skills Campus. The event provided an excellent platform for students to directly engage with leading employers in the engineering industry actively seeking new talent. 

Embarking on an apprenticeship journey can be both exciting and daunting. With countless questions swirling in your mind, guidance from our professionals can make all the difference. That's why we sat down with Sharna, a member of our excellent Apprenticeship Team, to glean some expert insights into the world of apprenticeships. 

Last year Weston College and University Centre Weston (UCW) launched a new scholarship, for Engineering learners, in partnership with the Luke Wheaton Trust, which honours the memory of former learner Luke Wheaton, one of Weston College’s most inspiring apprentices working with Wessex Water. 

The scholarship, which is available for one student, per year, is open to any apprentice studying on a Level 2, 3, 4 or 6 Engineering apprenticeship at Weston College. 

The Weston College Group hosted its annual Apprenticeship Fair on Tuesday 6th February, attracting a record-breaking attendance of over 230 individuals. The event, held in conjunction with National Apprenticeship Week, received overwhelming support, and comments were received from parents and carers who valued the opportunity to experience education and industry in a single room.

Over the last couple of years we have been following Chloe, and her story from starting a traineeship in 2020 to completing her apprenticeship and now working in our Business Growth Team.
