Over the last couple of years we have been following Chloe, and her story from starting a traineeship in 2020 to completing her apprenticeship and now working in our Business Growth Team.

We last heard from Chloe when she was on her apprenticeship (which you can read here), so we thought we would catch up with Chloe, and see how she is doing now that she has completed her apprenticeship.

University Centre Weston (UCW) is thrilled to announce its success in securing £272,000 from the Office for Students' (OfS) £40 million degree apprenticeship fund launched in September 2023. As part of the wave 1 funding, UCW stands among the fifty-one colleges and universities that have been awarded a share of a £12 million funding pot to expand degree apprenticeships.

Hey! I'm Maisy, and I recently completed my Digital Marketing Level 3 apprenticeship with Weston College, working for Visit Somerset.

After completing my apprenticeship in March, I was offered the role of Social Media Manager at Visit Somerset, which wouldn’t have been possible without my apprenticeship.

Let me take you through my apprenticeship journey, the highs, the lessons learned, and the growth I've experienced along the way.

Choosing the Apprenticeship Path

In an ever-evolving world, businesses must constantly seek innovative ways to secure a competitive edge. One strategy that has been gaining prominence in recent years is the offering of apprenticeships. At Weston College, our mantra is ‘careers, not courses’, meaning we have always understood the importance and value of learning on the job, working closely with local and national businesses to provide wonderful opportunities for our learners.

Last month, the South West Apprenticeship Awards, hosted at Ashton Gate Stadium, honoured outstanding apprentices from various industries and businesses across the South West. Among the remarkable apprentices who were acknowledged for their dedication and achievements was Lewis, a Software Engineering Degree Apprentice from MBDA Systems UK.

The South West Apprenticeship Awards took place last month, at Ashton Gate Stadium in Bristol. We are thrilled that George, an apprenticeship learner at the college, won both Apprentice of the Year (Construction & Property Industries) and South West Apprentice of the Year, after being nominated initially by his college mentor.

George is currently completing the Level 3 Advanced Civil Engineering Apprenticeship with Mott MacDonald.
